Linked Hearts Block pattern

Here is a simple plastic canvas pattern for Valentine's Day. Just stitch six of the block pattern, then sew them together to make a block. You can put potpourri in it or a jingle bell to make it a special gift for a friend.

Directions:

  1. Cut out six squares of plastic canvas 19 holes x 19 holes (20 threads x 20 threads).
  2. Stitch each of the block sides as shown in the pattern below. The pattern used for the white background is called a Scottish Plaid stitch.
  3. Using two strands of the red yarn, overcast the block pieces together.
    NOTE: Make sure the hearts are all going in the same direction before assembling the sides. If you wish to add anything inside the block, be sure to put it inside before stitching the last side in place.
